Weekly Medium flow for an indie dev

Total: ~3–4 hours a week for one article, or ~15 minutes if you only mirror your blog. The why: docs/01-strategy.md.

Once (week 1, ≈1 hour)

  • Profile, about page, link with UTM (02).
  • Import 2–3 of your best existing posts with canonical links (04).
  • Find 3–5 publications and fill the publication tracker (06).

Every week

Day Minutes Do Output
Mon 20 Pick one topic from real questions (your Reddit answers, support emails, X replies, search) and one article type An article file with title, outline, product-mention test
Tue–Wed 90–150 Write it (/social-medium write), add your own screenshots or code A finished draft
Thu 20 Edit: first 3 lines, headings, one product mention at most, UTM link at the end, 5 topics. Submit to one publication or publish Draft submitted or published
Fri 15 Share it: an X post with the key point, your newsletter, a Reddit answer where it truly answers the thread (Friend Link if paywalled) 2–3 outside shares
Sun 10 Weekly numbers, apply the stop rules One change for next week

Mirror-only mode (≈15 min per post)

If Medium isn't your main channel: every time you publish on your own blog, wait a few days, import it on Medium, check the canonical link, add 5 topics, share once. That's it.

Once a month (≈20 min)

  • Check which articles brought site visits and trials; write the next one in the same type.
  • Update the publication tracker: drop silent publications, add one active one.
  • Re-read 08-rules-and-risks.md if any story got no distribution.
